Fortaleza de Sta. Catarina
Localizado à margem do rio Paraíba, em Cabedelo, sua construção possivelmente iniciou-se em 1586 por ordem do Governador Geral de Pernambuco, para conquistar a região, fundar a Capitania da Paraíba e impedir as invasões estrangeira. Sofreu ataques de franceses e holandeses nos séculos XVI e XVII. Chegou a ser tomada por Maurício de Nassau, que rebatizou de Margareth, nome de sua mãe e de sua irmã. O nome de Santa Catarina veio tanto do fato de ter um Capela dedicada a Santa Catarina de Alexandria quanto de uma homenagem a duquesa portuguesa Catarina de Bragança.
As grandes muralhas ainda montam guarda do estuário, e de lá se pode ver a bela paisagem do porto.
Há peças de artilharia espalhadas pelos muros e um pequeno museu, onde chamam a atenção os mapas feitos em azulejos.

Santa Catarina Fort
Located by Paraíba river, in Cabadelo, its construction possibly started in 1586, ordered by the General Governor in Pernambuco, to take the region, found the captaincy in Paraíba and deter the invasions of the strangers. It suffered attacks run by the French and deutch in XVI and XVII centuries. It was taken by Maurício de Nassau, who rebaptized it Margareth, after his mother and sister. The name Santa Catarina de Alexandria, came not only from the fact of having a chapel dedicated to Saint Catarina de Alexandria, but also from a homage to a duchess from Portugal, Catarina de Bragança.
The huge walls still protect the estuary, and there we can see the beautiful view of the harbor. There are artillery pieces spread all maps traced on tiles appeal to tourists.
